Role:
 
We are looking for a Director of Social & Earned Media to join our dynamic, fast-paced team. In this role, you will lead SmileDirectClub’s strategy and execution in the interconnected worlds of social media, community management, influencer & artistry relations, PR, events, and partnerships. You will be creating strategy, facilitating conversations, driving advocacy around the brand, and building an engaged community.
This role lives in the Marketing department as part of a team crafting the consumer journey. The Director of Social & Earned Media will work collaboratively with the other media managers, and develop and implement strategy derived from a solid understanding of how earned, paid, and owned media can work together to amplify one another.
 
Responsibilities:
 

  • Build SmileDirectClub’s brand awareness, enhance client loyalty and create a culture of smiles by crafting and managing a strategic social media plan with clear KPI’s that works hand-in- hand with paid advertising.
  • Leverage paid spend with social platforms and vendors to formulate unique and exciting opportunities for promotion and collaboration.
  • Identify, test and optimize influencer strategy to generate highly relevant and high quality SmileDirectClub content as well as positive ROI.
  • Design audience-building and content engagement strategies using performance-based and earned media tactics; turn passive social voyeurs into recruiting brand ambassadors.
  • Use identify relevant social channels to target from evolving customer personas and help create the individualized content required to connect with them. Maintain an understanding of the latest trends and best practices to stay at the forefront of the next big thing in social.
  • Ensure social concepts are integrated and amplified across all marketing platforms and that marketing goals are achieved through innovative and impactful solutions with our creative team.
  • Work as liaison with PR agency to ensure company communication goals are being met and strategic asks are being moved along. Nurture relationships with agency and key media contacts.
  • Help facilitate events and promotions for retail/wholesale stores that fit voice and vision of brand.
  • Able to not just look at social and earned marketing as a passive art, but truly have the business sense and motivation to always be looking at the channels as a cultivation of leads and sales.
  • Balance creative mind with the analytical to serve meaningful reports on client sentiment, share of voice and overseeing approach to inbound customer response.
  • Developing consistent, actionable reporting for social media, influencer-related content, & PR objective, and communicating insights to the greater team. This will include analysis for digital KPIs; proactively provide measurable insight into in-progress social media initiatives to effectively maximize campaign performance.
  • Optimize website for search engines based upon current best practices and analysis of organic search and current audits.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Looking for a cutting edge, snappy, endless ball of energy, leader, who is looking to show off their knowledge of strategy, one to one communications and content execution in the wild wild west known as social media.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8+ years’ experience in a social media and community management.
  • Experience working with paid advertising teams.
  • Experience with excel.
  • Copywriting / Blogging Experience. Advanced writing ability required.
  • Skilled at delivering in a fast-paced environment and responds well to shifts in trajectory.
  • Balances strategic thinking with tactical vision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to speak within a brand voice creatively. Fundamentally innovative; always thinking about improving the brand story in the social space.
  • Clouds and Dirt kinda’ thinker.
  • Thrives in ambiguity and delights in new and exciting challenges.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative.
  • Positive and upbeat demeanor.
  • Practical knowledge of social media platforms, listening tools, & analytics.
  • Ability to create, test and evaluate content for social and understand what drives the engagement.
  • Must be coachable, i.e. a good listener, able to respond to real-time results, consumer research and collaborative, constructive feedback.
  • Experience in managing influencers and ambassadors. Celebrity a plus.
  • Experience directing fast-paced, yet high-quality, creative content production
  • Experience in the health and/or beauty industry a plus.
