SmileDirectClub is hiring a senior system engineer to help create the technology platform for an innovative B2C startup.  We are looking for bright, ambitious, and highly capable people that are able to thrive in a fast paced dynamic environment while working with advanced technologies.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Participate in providing top-notch business support and problem resolution, and lead continual improvement efforts to repair and design around identified deficiencies

• Develop automation tools, configuration management, and custom scripts to increase system efficiencies and lower human intervention time on tasks.

• Designing, deploying and maintaining internal corporate tools, servers and networks across multiple sites

• Monitoring physical and virtual infrastructure

• Provide escalation support for internal Help Desk

• Enhancing and resolving performance issues associated with the enterprise infrastructure

• Ensuring architecture is in compliance with all IT Controls related to area of responsibilities

• Create and maintain technical and process documentation to ensure efficient and consistent deployment and support of systems.

Role Profile:

• Ability to own a task from requirements to deployment and support

• Ability to work on multiple tasks, prioritizing and organizing these tasks to maximize productivity

• Self-starter with strong communication skills with all levels within the organization

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team

• Eagerness to tackle problems outside your core competencies and learn new technologies as required

• Willingness to participate on on-call rotations for critical after hours support.

• Proficient in High Availability and BCP concepts

• Ability to learn and adapt new technologies in a fast paced environment.

Experience:  

• 8+ years of demonstrated expert-level System Administration experience supporting critical production infrastructure.

• 5+ years operational experience in production environments, participating in a team which owns the full lifecycle of critical business services and underlying technologies.

• Moderate skill in storage administration (SAN, NAS, NFS, CIFS, iSCSI)

• Expert skill in administration of  Windows and linux platforms.

• Expert-level knowledge of Active Directory, including Group Policy creation and management.

• Moderate skill with monitoring systems (Nagios, Orion, Cacti,, etc)

• Well-rounded knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, VLAN, Routing, Firewalls, etc.)

• Solid scripting skills (e.g. shell scripting, Perl, Python, Powershell)

• Experience with cross-platform configuration management (e.g. cfengine, Ansible, etc)

• Proficient in Virtualization and Cloud Technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure, etc.)
